The key takeaway for me was this: “Sites that produce original content or information that Google considers valuable are supposed to rank higher under the new system.

People are always asking me “How can I get ranked higher in the search engines so I get more traffic?”

  1. Thanks for the tip Marty. So, does that means that it will be harder to SEO posts by inserting keywords using a certain, somewhat artificial, structure into the text?

for example: using the keyword to entitle each paragraph using boldface.

    • Hard to say Ivan, but it would appear that the more natural and original content the better. It’s the “canned” content they appear to be punishing.

From the Official Google Blog: “Many of the changes we make are so subtle that very few people notice them. But in the last day or so we launched a pretty big algorithmic improvement to our ranking—a change that noticeably impacts 11.8% of our queries—and we wanted to let people know what’s going on. This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful.”
